What happened to every Chicago Bears QB drafted in the first round?

Mitchell Trubisky is now a backup for the Buffalo Bills — another Chicago Bears first-round QB gone to waste. What happened to the others?

The Chicago Bears just don’t have a great track record when it comes to quarterbacks. It is that one position they just can’t solve throughout their team’s history.

With Mitchell Trubisky signing a free agent deal to be Josh Allen’s backup with the Buffalo Bills, it is another example of a Bears first-round quarterback’s career continuing in another NFL city.

Here is a rundown of what has happened to every Bears quarterback taken in the first round in Chicago history.

Russell Wilson tells Seahawks teams he would be open to being traded

Russell Wilson has told the Seattle Seahawks what teams he would consider being traded to but would rather stay put.

There has been a buzz — not a loud one, but a constant murmur — about Russell Wilson being unhappy in Seattle.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter poured some heat on to the fire Thursday by revealing the Seahawks’ quarterback has shared the list of teams he would consider playing for if traded. That said, the quarterback prefers to stay where he is.

The teams on the list are the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders and Chicago Bears, the quarterback’s agent told ESPN.

The Athletic reported on the divide between the team and its star quarterback.

Wilson led the Seahawks to the NFC West title in 2020. Wilson has played nine seasons with Seattle, making all 144 starts. He has been sacked 394 times while throwing for 33,946 yards and 267 touchdowns.

Greg Olsen announces retirement, will become FOX announcer

Greg Olsen announced his retirement after 14 NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks

Longtime NFL tight end Greg Olsen announced his retirement on FOX’s NFL Sunday pregame show. Olsen, who signed a contract with the network in July, is headed to the broadcast booth as an analyst.

Olsen played 14 seasons, four with Chicago, nine with Carolina, and 2020 with the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2007 first round.

Olsen has been plagued by injuries over the last four seasons, seeing action in 41 of a possible 64 games.

He finishes with 742 receptions for 8,683 yards and 60 touchdowns.

Olsen already has spent time in the FOX booth, doing an occasional NFL game on bye weeks and working the network’s short-lived XFL broadcasts.

It has been reported Olsen will be teamed with Kevin Burkhardt on FOX’s second announce team.

Watch: Jimmy Graham ends game with TD catch, heads up tunnel

Jimmy Graham with the perfect exit after catching a TD pass to end the Bears’ season

That’s a mic drop or quite the way to make an exit.

Chicago Bears tight end Jimmy Graham caught a TD pass from Mitchell Trubisky as time ran out on the Chicago Bears Sunday in their NFC Wild-Card game against the New Orleans Saints.

The touchdown made the final score, 21-9, and the veteran tight end didn’t stick around to celebrate or find out if there was going to be a PAT — there wasn’t.

He simply picked himself up and headed up the tunnel, not to be seen on the field again.

If Graham decides this would be it for his NFL career, it would be on helluva way to go out … on his own terms.

Watch: Drew Brees’ hook pass turns into New Orleans Saints’ TD

Drew Brees with the hook pass for the touchdown against the Bears

Drew Brees has thrown many passes in his NFL career. Some have been typical. Some beautiful. Some wobbly. And now, the hook pass.

Brees was under pressure by the Chicago Bears’ defense in the third quarter of Sunday’s NFC Wild-Card game.

He improvised with the hook pass that gently landed in the hands of running back Latavius Murray, who did the rest, sparking another eruption of slime.

The play covered six yards and the slime covered the end zone on the Nickelodeon broadcast.

This is the one game where everyone wants to see a high-scoring affair so because nothing rules like slime in the NFL playoffs.

Watch: Bears’ trick play works to perfect until Javon Wims forgets to catch TD pass

The Chicago Bears saw a chance to tie the game go through Javon Wims’ hands

The trickeration was perfect. The Chicago Bears had the New Orleans Saints fooled and a TD was a catch away.

Mitchell Trubisky unleashed a perfect pass to a wide-open Javon Wims in the end in the first quarter.

For sure the NFC Wild-Card game would be tied after the PAT.

All Wims had to do was “Catch the Damn Ball.”

He didn’t and soon after the Bears were turning over the ball to New Orleans on downs.

And another Nickelodeon joke.

The second forgettable moment against New Orleans for Wims. In the first meeting, he lost his cool and wound up with a two-game suspension.

Who dat in the end zone for Saints? Michael Thomas, Dat’s Who

Who did Drew Brees hit for the Saints’ first TD?

Michael Thomas is back and he has returned to the end zone for the first time in 385 days.

The elite New Orleans Saints’ wide receiver has battled ankle woes in the regular season. He looked sharp on Sunday in an NFC Wild-Card game against the Chicago Bears.

Thomas was on the receiving end of a scoring pass from Drew Brees in the first quarter as New Orleans opened a 7-0 lead.

The Nickelodeon broadcast had fun with the touchdown.

It was Thomas’ first TD in 385 days, as noted by CBS’ Jim Nantz.

NFL Super Wild-Card weekend matchups are set

The six Wild-Card round matchups are set.

The trio of AFC and NFC matchups on Super Wild-Card weekend is set, almost.

The question is who will the fifth-seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers play from the NFC East. It will either be the Washington Football Team or New York Giants playing host to Tom Brady & Co., depending on what happens in the Sunday nighter between Washington and Philadelphia.

A WFT win and it gets the division crown.

Meanwhile, the other NFC matchups will see Chicago at New Orleans and the Los Angeles Rams at the Seattle Seahawks.

The Saints beat the Bears, 26-23 in the regular season.

The Rams and Seahawks will be going a third round as they are NFC West rivals.

In the AFC, there will be an immediate rematch and third go-round for the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers. This one will take place at Heinz Field.

The other two Wild-Card games will see the Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo and the streaking Baltimore Ravens at the AFC South champion Tennessee Titans.

The times and dates will be announced by the league once the NFC East is settled and everything else takes shape with networks.
