Former Bills Thurman Thomas, Lorenzo Alexander, Fred Jackson are in London

Thurman Thomas, Lorenzo Alexander, Fred Jackson are hanging with the #Bills in London:

Buffalo Bills of years past have made the journey over to London.

For a usual home game at Highmark Stadium, the Bills (3-1) will typically have a “Legend of the Game.” One former player to lead the team out of the tunnel in a ceremonial way.

That’s set to happen in some way, shape, or form in London as the team announced that there will be a trio of legends hanging with the team on game day: Thurman Thomas, Fred Jackson and Lorenzo Alexander.

Those usual festivities only involve game day. This time, the group made an appearance on the town, too.

On Friday evening in London, Thomas, Alexander and Jackson were at a Bills party at an event in London.

Check out their appearance in the clip below:

Thurman Thomas loves how Bills’ James Cook played against Raiders

Thurman Thomas had a lot to say about how Buffalo Bills RB James Cook played in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook has been put in the position of being Buffalo’s top running after last season’s leading rusher, Devin Singletary, signed with the Houston Texans in the offseason.

So far in 2023, Cook has had two performances that were polar opposites of each other.

However, the way that Cook played in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders led the Bills’ All-time rushing leader and Hall-of-Famer Thurman Thomas to heap praise upon Cook. On Sunday, Cook ran 17 times for 123 yards (7.23 yards per carry) and caught four passes for 36 yards (yards per reception) in Buffalo’s impressive 38-10 win over the Raiders.

Through two weeks, Cook is fifth in the league in rushing yards with 169 and seventh in yards per carry at 5.8. If Buffalo is going to make noise in the playoffs and hopefully get to the Super Bowl, Cook will need to have more days like he did against Las Vegas to take the running burden off of quarterback Josh Allen.

Thomas had this to say about Cook during his appearance on One Bills Live on Wednesday:

“I just love the fact that he (Cook) was out there, got over 100 yards, and came out. (He) snapped off a big run and I was like, this is it.”

Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas to be ‘Legends of the Game’ for wild card

Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas to be ‘Legends of the Game’ for #Bills-#Patriots wild-card matchup:

In what might be the Buffalo Bills’ final home game until next season, the team might have saved the best for last in one aspects.

The team’s “Legend of the Game” for their wild-card matchup on Saturday against the New England Patriots is actually a duo. A well-known pair, at that.

A group that needs little introduction, Buffalo will bring back Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas for Saturday’s game:

The former quarterback and running back will certainly get a warm reception at Highmark Stadium despite the freezing temperatures.

Earlier this week, Thomas spoke to the team’s website about being at the game. He’s hopeful showing up with Kelly will help jazz up the crowd, which will help the team on the field in a huge playoff contest.

“I get to be back on the field and be part of the game,” Thomas said. “If you look at all the players that have done it all the way up to this point and Steve Tasker last week, which was incredible. To be out there with Jim, I couldn’t ask for a better partner to do this with at the beginning of the playoff game.”

Kickoff is slated for 8:15 p.m.

6 Bills appear in Sports Illustrated’s ‘Greatest Draft of All-Time’

Buffalo Bills in Sports Illustrated greatest NFL draft of all-time.

[lawrence-auto-related count=1]Sports Illustrated’s Rick Gosselin undertook as tough as a challenge as one could take in regard to the NFL draft. Researching all 86 drafts conducted over the course of league history, the all-time best draft was put together.

The goal was to determine the best pick at each selection. Rolling through the exercise, six Bills players appear on the list, starting with the team’s Hall of Fame running back, Thurman Thomas.

Here’s the full list:

40. Thurman Thomas, HB, Buffalo, 1988. (13, 182) Hall of Fame. All-decade. 1991 NFL MVP. 5 Pro Bowls. Played in four Super Bowls. 1991 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. 16,532 career yards from scrimmage, 11th all-time.

134. Kyle Williams, DT, Buffalo, 2006. (13, 183) 6 Pro Bowls. Collected a career-high 10 ½ sacks in 2013. 48 ½ career sacks.

171. Gary Anderson, K, Buffalo, 1982. (23, 353) 2-time All-decade. 4 Pro Bowls. 1998 NFL scoring champion with only perfect season by a kicker in history, converting all 35 of his field goals and 59 conversion kicks for 164 points. 2,434 career points, 3rd all-time.

221. Tom Nutten, G, Buffalo, 1995. (8, 78) 1 Super Bowl ring. In the blocking front for Kurt Warner’s MVP season in 1999.

235. Carlton Bailey, ILB, Buffalo, 1983. (10, 142) Played in 4 Super Bowls. Intercepted a John Elway pass and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown in a 10-7 victory over the Denver Broncos in the 1992 AFC title game, propelling the Bills to their second Super Bowl. 632 career tackles, 10 sacks.

253. Roland Hooks, FB, Buffalo, 1975. (7, 98) Lead blocker in Buffalo for 1,000-yard rushers O.J. Simpson, Terry Miller and Joe Cribbs. 12 career rushing touchdowns, 96 receptions.

Naturally we have a bit of an asterisk here for one pick. Anderson was drafted by the Bills but never played for the team after a tough preseason. Among all Bills draft picks listed, Thomas is the clear-cut best.

On the flip side, among notable omissions, we have Andre Reed (No. 86 Morten Anderson), Jim Kelly (No. 14 Gino Marchetti), and right at the top with the likes of Bruce Smith (No. 1 Peyton Manning).

In addition to the Bills’ selections, other notable former Bills players that appear but were selected by other teams: Steve Tasker (No. 226, Houston), Frank Gore (No. 65, 49ers), Terrell Owens (No. 89, 49ers), Larry Centers (No. 115 Cardinals), Josh Norman (No. 143, Panthers), Bryce Paup (No. 159, Packers), and Ryan Fitzpatrick (No. 250, Rams).PP

Through 3 weeks, Alvin Kamara has the 2nd-most fantasy football points in NFL history

The New Orleans Saints have a fantasy football Hall of Fame-caliber RB in Alvin Kamara, who trails only Marshall Faulk through three weeks.

[jwplayer DlYDdbL9-ThvAeFxT]

Alvin Kamara has been a fantasy football mainstay ever since he stepped on the field, but he’s outdone himself in 2020. Through the first three weeks, only one other player in NFL history has produced more fantasy football points than the New Orleans Saints featured back: Marshall Faulk, who racked up 109.0 points back in 2000 (when he won the NFL’s award for Most Valuable Player).

After three games, Kamara trails Faulk with 106.8 fantasy points. They are the only two players to score more than 102 points in the first three weeks, though Kansas City Chiefs legend Priest Holmes came close in 2002 and 2003. Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees Thurman Thomas and Jim Brown round out the top-five all-time scorers through three weeks.

What’s been impressive about Kamara this year is his excellence on the ground and through the air. He’s averaging 4.9 yards per carry with as many touchdown runs as catches (3 each), while outproducing many wide receivers around the league in the passing game with 27 catches (on 31 targets) for 285 yards. No player in the league has more yards from scrimmage than him right now (438).

So pat yourself on the back if you lucked into Kamara in your fantasy draft. If he can keep up the pace after all-star wide receiver Michael Thomas gets back in the mix, he just might take your fantasy team all the way — and start to build his own Hall of Fame candidacy. Here’s hoping his bust in Canton includes the nose ring.

New England Patriots join elite NFL MVP fraternity

Tom Brady’s exit and Cam Newton’s entrance in New England makes the Patriots part of a small NFL MVP grouping.

The New England Patriots saw a three-time NFL MVP, Tom Brady, check out. Now, the 2015 league MVP Cam Newton checks into Foxboro.

How many times has a team lost an MVP QB only to add another MVP QB in the offseason? Once.

And if you were wondering how many times a team has lost an MVP and added another in the same offseason, this makes three.
