Oklahoma State vs Baylor Game Preview

Why Oklahoma State Will Win

Beating Arizona State seemed like a thing at the time, but the 34-17 win isn’t as big of a deal now. Central Michigan, Arkansas Pine-Bluff …

Now we get to see what Oklahoma State can really do. With two weeks off to get ready, this should be as strong as the team gets.

The running game hasn’t kicked it in quite yet, but Spencer Sanders and the passing attack have been good, the points have rolled in without having to go full throttle, and the defense has been terrific with an unstoppable pass rush and lots and lots of third down plays.

The Baylor ground game was stopped by Iowa State in the 31-24 Bear win, Oklahoma State’s defensive front should be able to hold up well on the road, and …

NFL Expert Picks, Week 4

Why Baylor Will Win

Baylor has been a rock against the run.

The defense was great against BYU in the tough 26-20 loss, no one has hit three yards per carry, and overall the D is allowing just over 300 yards per game with enough plays behind the line to matter.

No, the running game wasn’t great against the Cyclones, but Blake Shapen came up large with 238 yards and three touchdown passes in a sharp performance.

As long as he’s hitting his third down throws and there isn’t a turnover problem, the Bear D should be able to take care of the rest.

– Schedules, Previews CollegeNFL

What’s Going To Happen

Can this be half as entertaining as the epic 2021 Big 12 Championship thriller?

Maybe.

Oklahoma State will come out surging with a few good, strong drives, but the Baylor defense that’s been fantastic in the red zone so far will hold firm and not let the game get too crazy.

Turnovers won’t be an issue for either side, but consistently keeping things moving will be.

At home, the Baylor defense will keep Spencer Sanders from getting comfortable, and Shapen will dink and dunk the offense to a tough, big win.

Baylor vs Texas State Game Preview

Why Texas State Will Win

That’s how the offense is supposed to work.

The Bobcats got the passing game going in the loss to Nevada, but the ground attack wasn’t able to do much of anything. In the 41-12 win over FIU, everything clicked, the passing game was good enough, and the team was able to over come a slew of mistakes to get the win.

The defense has been solid against the run so far. Nevada is trying to grind it a bit – it came up with four touchdown runs in the win – but it didn’t break off anything big. So far, Texas State is allowing just three yards per carry, it’s getting a good push into the backfield, and …

CFN Expert Picks, Week 3

Why Baylor Will Win

Texas State is screwing up way too much.

The six turnovers and 18 penalties in the first two games are a problem against a Baylor team that’s not giving the ball away.

The Bears have a flag problem of their own, but they should be at least a +2 in turnover margin.

The defense will take over in this. Nevada’s D was able to hold Texas State to a grand total of one net yard rushing. Baylor will get into the backfield, force QB Layne Hatcher to move the offense through the air, and that’s when the pass rush will really kick in.

Week 3 Schedule, Predictions, Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

Texas State gave Baylor a heck of a time in the 2021 opener – a 29-20 Bear win – but it should be a little easier for the Big 12 side this time around.

The offense fought in a tough loss to BYU, but this week the line will come up with a better performance and the defense isn’t going to give up a thing.

Again, mistakes will matter. Texas State will move the ball a bit, but turnovers will be devastating.

Baylor vs BYU Game Preview

Why Baylor Will Win

The defense is going to travel.

The Bears gave up a first quarter touchdown to Albany, and that was it in the 69-10 win. The defense didn’t exactly extend itself – it didn’t have to – but it has the front line to hold up against a fantastic BYU offensive front.

The intensity is about to go up a few notches – expect more good plays on third downs than it showed against the Great Danes – and the offensive side should be fully tuned up.

Blake Shapen was deadly, the big plays with the passing game were there, and the offense should be able to keep it relatively simple without taking a slew of big chances. The defense will take care of the rest.

CFN Expert Picks, Week 2

Why BYU Will Win

38-0.

How do you know BYU has it? How do you know it’s about to be in for something big? It comes out and obliterates an inferior opponent on the road with a dominant first 20 minutes. It jumped out on USF, led up later on, and won 50-21.

Yes, Baylor has a terrific defense, and yes, it’s not going to get rolled over against the run, but yes, it’ll see an offensive front that’s every bit as strong as anything it’ll face this season. The future Big 12 Cougars have all of the parts in place to pull this off.

Jaren Hall hit 25-of-32 passes for 261 yards and two scores in the win, the running backs have the rotation, and the lines …

To keep harping on this, you can’t hang with Baylor unless you can hold up in the trenches, and BYU can do that.

Week 2 Schedule, Predictions, Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

It’s a late night game, it’s Provo, and it’s a BYU with a chance to make a giant statement at home.

Can the Cougars overcome the likely loss of its top two receivers? Gunner Romney and Puka Nacua are expected to be out, and that’s going to be a problem against a Baylor defense that doesn’t need any help.

Baylor is more than good enough to pound away and get enough solid play on both sides to pull this off, but BYU will feed off the atmosphere, the early momentum, and the play of its veterans to make this a fantastic, tough game that will show off just how tough a Big 12 road date this will be next year.

The loss of the key BYU receivers will be just enough to tip this to the Baylor side.

Baylor vs Albany Game Preview

Why Albany Will Win

The Great Danes will bring a little pass defense.

They were among the best in the FCS last season at holding down the big throws, keeping the penalties to a minimum, and controlling the clock. They’re going to have to do everything right to hang around with the Bears, and as long as they’re still good defensively on third downs, they’ll be a bother.

If they can slow the game down to a halt at times, convert a few plays to keep the chains moving, and …

Week 1 CFN College Football Expert Picks

Why Baylor Will Win

Uh oh.

Albany has a decent defense coming into the season, but the jury is out on whether or not the front can hold up against the run.

The bigger problem is on the other side with an offense that didn’t do anything on the ground, struggled overall, and only pushed past 24 points once.

Baylor should be able to do whatever it wants offensively, the defense will be in for a good live scrimmage against this bunch, and as long as there aren’t a slew of turnovers, this will be ugly.

Week 1 Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews, Saturday

What’s Going To Happen

The Bears should be able to call their shot.

Albany really does have a good enough defense to keep this from getting too insane, but scoring against this Bear D is going to be a problem.

Be shocked if the Great Danes get more than 50 yards on the ground.
