NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Ravens are top team in AFC; Eagles maintain No. 1 spot

We’re looking at the NFL Power Rankings and the Baltimore Ravens are the No. 2 team behind Philadelphia which maintains the No. 1 spot.

The Ravens are 9-3 and the top team in the AFC heading into the bye week after an impressive 20-10 win over the Chargers (4-7) on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Baltimore gets a much-needed bye, while the Chiefs, Jaguars, Dolphins, and Steelers are all lurking around in the AFC postseason picture.

With the Eagles maintaining their hold on the top spot, we’re previewing the Week 13 NFL Power Rankings.

Browns sign former Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco to practice squad

Browns sign former Ravens’ QB Joe Flacco to practice squad

After losing starting quarterback Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury against the Baltimore Ravens, the Cleveland Browns are signing a former Ravens quarterback.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns are signing veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to their practice squad.

This will be the fourth team Flacco has been on since being traded by Baltimore to the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round pick in 2019. Following a one-year stint with the Broncos, Flacco has played for the New York Jets on two separate occasions and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The now 38-year-old quarterback experienced much success with the Ravens, including being named Super Bowl XLVII MVP to go with ten playoff wins over his 11 seasons in Baltimore.

Cleveland turned to rookie fifth-round quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson in Week 11. The UCLA quarterback led the Browns to a 13-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers to improve to 7-3 and remain firmly in the hunt for the AFC North at best and a wild-card playoff berth at worst.

Flacco has plenty of post-season experience, so if Thompson-Robinson cannot get the job done over the remainder of the season, Cleveland may turn to the once Super Bowl MVP to steer the ship alongside their top-ranked defense.

The Baltimore Ravens improved to 8-3 on the season and will have ten days of rest before traveling to Los Angeles to play Justin Herbert and the Chargers after a 34-20 win over the Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson accounted for 318+ yards and two touchdowns as the Ravens offense exploded on the ground and through the air for over 400+ total yards, and Todd Monken’s best game as offensive coordinator.

Baltimore was able to reverse the time of possession, maintaining the football for nine more minutes while going 3-4 in the red zone.

Where do the Ravens sit in the AFC playoff picture?

We’re looking at an updated look at the AFC playoff picture and the Baltimore Ravens are currently the No. 2 seed behind the Kansas City Chiefs

The Ravens are 7-3, and even after a 33-31 loss to the Browns in Week 10, they sit atop the AFC North, but that standing alone won’t create much separation, as three other division rivals are also currently in the postseason picture.

If the postseason started this weekend, the AFC North would be represented by three teams and the division winners from the AFC East, AFC West, and two AFC South teams.

Baltimore and Cincinnati are set for a high-profile matchup on Thursday night, and a loss would drop the Bengals to 5-5 on the season and down to as low as the 11th or 12th seed in the conference.

With the final day of preparation underway, here’s an updated look at the AFC playoff picture.

If the postseason started this weekend, the AFC North would be represented by all four teams, along with the division winners from the AFC East, AFC South, and AFC West.

Baltimore and Cleveland are set for a high-profile matchup on Sunday, and a loss could drop the Browns down onto the bubble and as low as the No. 9 overall seed.

NFL Week 8 rooting guide: Steelers need help to keep pace in AFC

The AFC playoff picture is a mess right now for the Steelers.

Here is a quick look at the games that matter the most for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8 of the NFL season. The Pittsburgh Steelers Week 18 showdown with the Cleveland Browns is important on a couple of fronts. The Steelers must win if they have a hope of making the playoffs. Pittsburgh also needs the New York Jets to beat the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills to beat the New England Patriots.

However, there is more at stake. A win against Cleveland without one of those other two games still gives the Steelers nine wins. The Steelers would finish the season at 9-8 and assure head coach Mike Tomlin’s streak of non-losing seasons stays intact.

But is that a successful year? Going into the season, if you would have told me this team would make the playoffs, I’d have told you there was no shot. If you would have told me the team would finish right around .500 I could have seen it. Now, with one game to play, both have a chance of happening.

Three things had to happen on Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers to make the playoffs. First, the team had to beat the Baltimore Ravens. Second, the Jacksonville Jaguars had to beat the Indianapolis Colts. Finally, the game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders could not end in a tie.

Now, after all those things have happened including that thrilling overtime win over the Ravens, and a last-second overtime field goal to carry the Raiders past the Chargers, we can finally say officially that the Pittsburgh Steelers have clinched a spot in the playoffs as the No. 7 seed.

What do the Steelers win for all this going right? A trip to Kansas City, the home of great barbeque and the Chiefs who walloped the Steelers just three weeks ago. The game is scheduled for next Sunday night, January 16, at 8:15 p.m ET.
