The star winger will sound the Gjallarhorn

Vikings vs. Giants: Week 16 staff preview and predictions

Our staff and Giants Wire gave our predictions for the game on Saturday

There is still something for the NFC North Minnesota Vikings to play for as they host the New York Giants on Christmas Eve. They still have an outside chance at the number one seed if they win out and the Philadelphia Eagles lose their next three games.

Even if the number one seed ends up being out of reach, the Vikings can still guarantee themselves two home playoff games by winning out. The worst that they can do is be the number three seed since they are five games ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The game kicks off at noon central time and our staff has the same line of thinking for Saturday’s game.

Week 16 Giants vs. Vikings: How to watch, stream & listen

Make sure you know how to catch Saturday’s game

The Minnesota Vikings are NFC North champions sitting at 11-3 going into week 16 where they will host the New York Giants in the first-ever Winter Whiteout game.

The Giants come in still needing to win to secure their first playoff spot since 2016 and could clinch that berth with a win and some help.

The Vikings are only playing for seeding at this point, as the number one seed is unlikely but the number two seed is theirs for the taking.

The Vikings are once again playing on Saturday so make sure you know how to catch the clash on Christmas Eve.

Vikings vs. Giants: 5 players to watch on Christmas Eve

These players could be game-changers on Saturday

This Christmas Eve, the Minnesota Vikings are playing host to the New York Giants after they just completed the biggest comeback in NFL history one week ago.

The Vikings are 11-3 and are slated to host at least one playoff game since they won the division, but this game still holds plenty of weight. The Vikings are trying to hold off the 49ers for the number two seed and, even though the odds are slim, there still is a chance the Vikings can snag the number one seed in the NFC.

Let’s look ahead to this week’s matchup for some players to keep an eye on.

Giants’ DC Wink Martindale compared Kevin O’Connell to pop star

Giants’ DC Wink Martindale compared Kevin O’Connell to pop star

The Vikings are slated to host the New York Giants this Saturday at US Bank Stadium, and just like every other week in the NFL, teams will hold press conferences leading up to the game.

Typically, the press conferences are just the coaches and coordinators talking about the opposing team they are going to face and which players they’ll need to stop in order to put themselves in a position to win. Giants’ defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale made things a little interesting this week when he compared Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell to a famous celebrity.

“I’m a blue collar guy going against Harry Styles.”

Martindale has been a coach in the NFL since 2004 and was probably comparing O’Connell to Styles given his age. O’Connell is the second-youngest NFL head coach at age 37.

After a quick chuckle from the media, Martindale goes on to say,

“I really like Kevin. I think he’s done a great job, not only calling the offense, but the entire team.”

We’ll see if Kevin O’Connell has any response to Martindale’s comparison, but he is right about O’Connell doing a great job this season. O’Connell has led the Vikings to an 11-3 record and NFC North title in his first year as head coach.

Vikings initial Week 16 injury report is pretty clean

The injury report looks a lot better than it has in past weeks

The injury luck for the Minnesota Vikings might just be getting better after all. There were only four players on the initial injury report.

Center Garrett Bradbury did not practice after re-aggravating his back injury in a car crash on Saturday after the game against the Indianapolis Colts.

The linebacking corps is hit the hardest, as both Brian Asamoah (ankle) and Eric Kendricks (hip) were both limited.

Patrick Jones II is back practicing in full after missing Saturday’s game with an illness.

One thing to watch as the week progresses: Cameron Dantzler dressed, but didn’t play a single snap on Saturday. Until we hear further information on Dantzler, it’s something to keep an eye on.

Vikings will be iced out for Saturday’s game vs. Giants

The all-whites are coming home on Saturday

The Minnesota Vikings announced a couple of weeks ago that they wanted the fans to wear white for a “Winter Whiteout.” The team wants the fans to all wear white to create a special atmosphere that we see consistently at the college level, more specifically at Penn State. Their whiteouts have become a staple of any college football bucket list.

On Christmas Eve, the Vikings are trying to duplicate that magic, by not only asking the fans to wear white, but for the first time possibly ever, the Vikings will be wearing all white at home themselves.

The Vikings wearing their all-whites will be a fresh look for the home crowd and give the regular season finale a special flair for the Christmas holiday.

Vikings announce “Winter Whiteout” for Christmas Eve

The Vikings will have a special atmosphere on Christmas Eve

The Minnesota Vikings are well known for their purple jerseys. It has been a staple of the team since it’s inception in 1961. On Christmas Eve, the Vikings will be trying something different.

Akin to what Penn State does every season, the Vikings announced that they will do their first-ever winter whiteout where they ask the fans to wear nothing but white to create a special atmosphere.

If you have never seen what Happy Valley looks and feels like during its whiteout games, it’s a special experience. The Minnesota Golden Gophers were the opponent in their whiteout game this season and it was an electric atmosphere.

Vikings fans, let’s create something special on Christmas Eve.
