Big 12 Football: Way-too-early power rankings for 2021 season

With only one new head coach taking over, the conference as a whole is in a stable place. Here are the way-too-early 2021 power rankings:

The Big 12 conference is coming off of a season where a representative once again did not make the College Football Playoff. Iowa State and Oklahoma were the conference’s two best shots, but multiple losses damaged their hopes.

Had TCU’s bowl game not been canceled, six Big 12 teams would have made the postseason. In the five that did play, all of them won, including two New Year’s Six bowl wins from the Cyclones and the Sooners.

With only one new head coach taking over (Steve Sarkisian), the conference as a whole is in a good and stable place at the moment. Competitive games each week prove how strong it is from the top to the bottom, excluding Kansas.

The 2021 season will be no different, with four teams hoping to stay put atop the rankings and the middle of the pack looking to finally challenge for a Big 12 championship.
