Alabama football radio legend Eli Gold reveals positive COVID test

The voice of the Crimson Tide, Eli Gold, has tested positive for COVID and won’t be calling Saturday’s game against Arkansas.

Any impressive play from the Alabama football team is improved with Eli Gold, the 66-year old radio play-by-play announcer for the Crimson Tide.

Tonight, on his show “Hey Coach,” Gold revealed that he and his wife have both tested positive for COVID and that he was hosting tonight’s show from home.

Unfortunately, Gold will not be able to remotely call this Saturday’s Alabama game as they travel to Fayetville to face off against Arkansas in the final regular season game for the Crimson Tide in 2020.

Missing this game will mean a streak of 409 consecutive games called for Gold will be broken.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban managed to recover in a matter of days after testing positive for COVID. He credits the blood plasma treatment he received, and claims Gold has received the same treatment.

We will continue to update you on the health of Eli Gold and wish him a speedy recovery.
