Texas is pulling out all the stops to steer five-star prospect Tommy Brockerymeyer to Austin.
Actor and Producer Matthew McConaughey is often referred to as the Minister of Culture around the Longhorn community. He’s arguably the No. 1 fan of Texas athletics, appearing on the sidelines at nearly every home football game.
But he’s not just any fan. The Dazed and Confused star motivates the players, coaches, and fans to raise their intensity level. You can oftentimes witness McConaughey leading chants, asking the crowd to stand up and yell, or providing pre-game motivation speeches to players.
While his presence around Austin is known as the jack of all trades, McConaughey can now add recruiter to his resume. Well, at least when it involves the No. 1 overall player in Texas for the 2021 recruiting class.
Brockermeyer was recently on a Zoom video call with McConaughey. It was exciting enough to the Fort Worth product that he tweeted out the encounter with a screenshot.

The 6-6, 283-pound offensive lineman is a top 100 rated recruiting prospect of all time. With Sam Cosmi likely becoming a top draft prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft, Brockermeyer could instantly fill the void at left tackle.
Crystal ball predictions currently list Texas as the favorite to land Brockermeyer at 50%, although Alabama is close behind with 38%.
Alright, alright, alright.
