Ohio State’s recruiting has been on fire, even during a pandemic and a dead period. It makes things more difficult to evaluate and get kids on campus, but it hasn’t seemed to slow down the OSU prospects from rolling in. In fact, There have been a whopping six recruiting wins since the world got turned upside down with the COVID-19 pandemic — all but one of those were a four or five star verbal.
Now, it appears the Buckeyes may be on the verge of another four-star verbal commitment, at least if you read the Buckeye leaves out there. At 6-foot, 2-inches, and 178 pounds, Jantzen Dunn is an elite defensive-back prospect that was considered a heavy Oklahoma lean.
But Saturday night, that all changed. Word began to spread that the Sooners may be close to landing a big commitment. It was assumed to be Dunn. Listed as the No. 15 athlete, and a top 250 recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, many felt the inevitable was about to happen.
But then, Dunn threw out a Tweet that didn’t end in a commitment, just more intrigue.
BIG news coming soonđź’Ą…
— Jantzen Dunn (@JantzenDunn) April 19, 2020
Word began to circulate that Ohio State might now be the leader for the prospect out of Bowling Green, KY. In fact, all eight 247Sports Crystal Ball projections now have him landing at Ohio State.
You never know what’s going on behind the scenes in the cutthroat world of big-time college football recruiting, but this is one to watch. I’d expect to hear a commitment soon from Dunn, and it might just be another one in the Scarlet and Gray column.
We will stay on top of the situation.
