Former Jet praises Sam Darnold
Kelvin Beachum had some ups and downs but defended Jets quarterback Sam Darnold’s blindside on Gang Green’s offensive line the last two seasons. Beachum has recently left the Jets for the Arizona Cardinals, but even in doing so, he sees some positives for his former teammate en route.
Despite an 11-15 career record and a still very random bout with mono last season, Beachum sees Darnold as a star in the future with the Jets.
“I texted him yesterday and told him to remember the little people like me when he’s the King of New York,” Beachum said. “He’s the real deal.”
Darnold has shown flashes of greatness during his two NFL seasons, but he’s also made plenty of mistakes. Like Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Darnold’s entering the third season of his career and it’s going to be the most important one to date. And also like Allen, at times, Darnold hasn’t had much help around him, either. But his team did plenty to improve the trenches in front of his, the Jets’ biggest problem, this offseason.
The Bills will have plenty to say about Beachum’s future prediction, though.
