Steelers must make a change at running back

It’s time to see what Jaylen Warren can do as the lead back.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

Through eight games, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has 363 rushing yards. This ranks him 28th in the NFL. Do you know who ranks 27th? New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

Worse than that, Harris has soundly been outplayed this season by fellow Steelers running back Jaylen Warren. Warren, an undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State has been the best back on the team in the first half of the season.

Yet for whatever reason, head coach Mike Tomlin feels compelled to give Harris nearly four times as many carries. Warren is averaging 5.3 yards per carry compared to Harris’ 3.3 yards per carry. Tomlin has no one to blame but himself for this but it is time for the switch to be made and let the Steelers see what they have in Warren with a full workload.

Tomlin has given everyone just enough of Warren to recognize he’s a better fit for this offense as it stands right now. Warren is a north-south runner who has excellent quickness and no wasted steps.

Let us know in the comments below if you think it is time for a change at running back.

College Football Rankings: 1 To 131 After Week 9

College football rankings from CollegeFootballNews.com from 1 to 131 after Week 9

College Football News 2022 college football rankings after Week 9 for all 131 teams with results and remaining schedules.

Let’s let November sort it all out.

Tennessee at Georgia. Alabama at LSU. Clemson at Notre Dame. That’s just next week, and it’ll keep getting more and more intense the rest of the way.

For now you can take the top five teams, shuffle them up, and you probably have the right order, but from 1 to 131 it’s becoming a wild puzzle to put together.

The Sun Belt has gone crazy. The Mountain West is starting to become clear, but good luck figuring out the SEC after getting past the stars up top. The Pac-12 is relatively cut-and-dry, but the ACC is all over the place.

How much do you crush Stanford for its 3-5 record when all of the losses were to terrific teams ranked higher to go along with a win at Notre Dame? How about trying to judge a Texas A&M squad that might be a hot mess, but is still competitive. How about Florida, with wins over Utah and Missouri to go along with losses to Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and LSU?

Here we go. Before November kicks in …

Your fishing clothes are as vital as the net, line, rod, or other accessories you need for fishing. Your upper body is protected by your fishing jerseys, which shield you from environmental and tools hazards.

For a long time, synthetic clothing made from polyester has been the standard for basic fishing shirts. The construction of synthetic fabrics brings several essential features to the final product. For example, lycra, another famous synthetic material, is an excellent cloth for football jerseys.

Some jersey-designing services allow you to customize them according to your preferences. Apart from fishing, you can get jerseys for hockey, baseball, darts, hunting, wrestling, etc., from an authentic jersey provider.

Here are seven reasons why you need fishing jerseys when you are outside.

BREATHABILITY

When looking for the best fishing shirt for your trip, breathability should be a top priority. It is crucial for your entire adventure that the garment keeps you dry and allows you to relax while taking in the atmosphere (and hopefully catching a fish).

You will need a lightweight, breathable fabric that repels sweat and causes it to disappear. The material should be such that the air can circulate well and you are not uncomfortable while catching fish.

WEAR and TEAR

Your apparel’s life expectancy can be reduced by exposure to extreme climate conditions, environmental aspects, and strenuous movements. However, polyester-based clothing is powerful enough to withstand more than a fishing trip.

This fabric is highly durable and can withstand extreme strain. It also resists radiation & heat. The material is also durable and can withstand wear and tear over time, making it an excellent choice for outdoor activities.

UV RESISTANCE

Hoodies and caps provide plenty of cover in the scorching heat. However, your body needs additional protection to block the sun and keep you relaxed and calm.

Quality fishing jerseys can provide a UV protection factor of up to +30. A polyester jersey can also offer UPF +60 protection if treated adequately for athletic wear.

The best quality jersey with unique properties can instantly deflect UV radiation, leading to serious health problems. In addition, women’s fishing clothing is usually more substantial and UV radiation resistant.

FLEXIBLE

Those who fish agree that agility is essential when a surprise catch comes in. Having comfortable, flexible clothes is one of the most vital aspects of your fishing journey.

Polyester is light, elastic, and breathable. It also offers greater flexibility, permitting a more natural swing without discomfort. Fishing shirts are more durable than regular cotton, allowing full motion and preventing your hands from getting caught on your stick handle.

FIT

Although “fit” refers to flexibility, it does not mean exactly.

A well-fitted shirt is essential so your clothes don’t get entangled in hooks or trees. Look for a flexible material that fits perfectly on your body. Such shirts can even be made with mesh panels. This allows for more breathability and better fitting around the arms and sides.

WASHABLE

Premium quality fishing t-shirts are easy to wash and last longer than cotton tees. In addition, the high-end polyester fabric can withstand dirt, dribble, and blood stains caused by gutting fish. Polyester is also more absorbent than cotton-based fabrics.

Conclusion

When it comes to buying jerseys, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. You can get a zipper neck short sleeve polo or polo style jacket. Hopefully, this blog helped you understand the relevance of such jerseys.

Takeaways: Paul George, Clippers steal game late from KJ Martin, Rockets

KJ Martin (23 points) and the Rockets had a golden opportunity to end their losing streak, but Paul George (35 points) and the host Clippers stormed back in Monday’s closing seconds.

The young and rebuilding Rockets (1-7) have lost a season-high four straight games after Monday’s 95-93 loss (box score) in Los Angeles. Houston led by five with 1:27 left before allowing the Clippers (3-4) to outscore them 7-0 to end the game, a run punctuated by two difficult shots from Paul George in the final 40 seconds.

George scored a game-high 35 points for the Clippers on 15-of-26 shooting (57.7%) and 5-of-10 on 3-pointers (50%). He also recorded 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals.

The hosts were somewhat short-handed with veterans Kawhi Leonard (right Kawhi Leonard (right knee injury management), John Wall (left knee injury management), and Robert Covington (health and safety protocol) out on the second night of a back-to-back.

The Rockets certainly didn’t feel sorry for them since they were on a back-to-back, themselves, and badly in need of a victory. Unfortunately, they scored just three points in the game’s final four minutes and couldn’t take advantage.

With Jae’Sean Tate again sidelined by a right ankle injury, KJ Martin absorbed more minutes at forward and scored a team-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting (52.9%). Alperen Sengun had 14 points (50% FG) and 9 rebounds, while Jalen Green continued his recent shooting slump with 13 points on 4-of-17 shooting (23.5%).

Veteran big man Ivica Zubac had 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the Clippers, including a key dunk late after Sengun was removed from the game by Rockets head coach Stephen Silas.

Scroll on for highlights, analysis and postgame interviews from Crypto.com Arena. In what is effectively a home-and-home series, the Rockets and Clippers will meet again at Houston’s Toyota Center on Wednesday; the tip is set for 7 p.m. Central.

CFN Predictions & Game Previews

Ron Rivera confirms Chase Young will return to practice Wednesday

Rivera cautions patience as Young gets back up to speed.

It’s finally here. We finally have a date for Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young’s return to practice. As expected, Young will return to practice Wednesday, and his 21-day clock will begin as head coach Ron Rivera confirmed Monday.

“We’re gonna start on Wednesday with him,” Rivera said. “We’ll start his clock.”

The clock is referring to Young’s current status on the reserve/PUP list. The team has 21 days from the moment Young returns to practice to either activate him, or he’ll miss the remainder of the season.

Rivera laid out Washington’s plan with Young.

“He had a final good visit with Doc [Dr. James Andrews],” Rivera said. He was very, very pleased. Chase has been working out with the strength and conditioning group the last few days, and he’ll continue right into Wednesday, where he’ll start with positional drills. By doing so, he’ll get an opportunity to be involved in all of the walkthroughs and installation periods that we have, and then we’ll move him to the side once we get through the positional drills. He’ll work on the side, and then we’ll see how he is after the day and then going into the next day, and that’ll dictate what our next step is in terms of where he goes from there.”

Young rejoins Washington at the perfect time. The Commanders have won three games in a row and have a difficult road over the next two weeks with the top two teams in the NFC in Minnesota and Philadelphia. It remains to be seen when Young will see his first action, but running back Brian Robinson Jr. played the following week upon his activation. Of course, it’s important to note these are entirely different injuries and timelines. Young had major reconstructive surgery.

Rivera cautioned against expecting too much too soon.

“Yeah, just because, again, he’s going to have to get back into the mode,” he said. “He’s going to have to get back into condition. I mean, believe me, playing football is completely different from rehabbing, obviously. And the more reps he can get on the practice field prior to stepping onto the game field would be very beneficial to him.”

Washington’s defensive line is playing as well as any in the NFL. Young’s presence, at least initially in a limited role, should bolster an elite unit.

4-star safety, top-100 national recruit has ‘always loved’ Clemson

Clemson recently played host to this highly touted defensive back from the Peach State.

Buford (Ga.) High School four-star safety TyShun White, a top-100 national prospect in the 2024 class, made his first-ever trip to Tiger Town for the Tigers’ game against Syracuse on Oct. 22.

“The visit to Clemson was real good,” White told The Clemson Insider. “I got to see the environment, meet the coaches and got to see how Clemson’s defense plays.”

White, ranked as high as the No. 5 safety and No. 81 overall prospect in his class by Rivals, came away impressed by the environment at Death Valley during what was a top-15 matchup.

“The atmosphere was crazy,” he said. “My family, they really liked the atmosphere also. It was a good atmosphere. The fans, they rushed the field after the game, so that was pretty cool to see that. The crowd was crazy every third down. It’s crazy.”

The 6-foot, 185-pound junior liked what he saw from Clemson’s defense, which shut out Syracuse in the second half en route to the 27-21 win over the Orange.

“I like how their defense plays,” he said. “They play a lot of man coverage. That’s what Coach (Wes) Goodwin was telling me, they play a lot of man coverage. So, it’s good to see that because that’s kind of what we do at my high school now, play a lot of man coverage.”

Speaking of Goodwin, White was able to talk with the Tigers’ defensive coordinator in the locker room after the game and had the chance to sit down and chat a lot with co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach Mickey Conn before the game.

White also got to meet head man Dabo Swinney in the locker room after the game.

“Coach Swinney, he’s the GOAT,” White said. “I’ve been looking at Coach Swinney. Before I even got to Clemson, I had already seen the way he coaches and stuff. It’s very relating, the way he celebrates with the team. So, that was really cool to see a head coach doing stuff like that.”

It was the time White spent in the locker room after the game that provided the overall highlight of his visit.

“They were exciting to watch throughout the game, and then the locker room vibe was crazy after the game,” he said, “how they celebrated and how Coach Dabo Swinney celebrated with the team.”

White had been in contact with Clemson prior to the visit, and based on what he’s heard from Conn and other coaches, the Tigers are certainly interested in him.

“They really like the way I play,” he said. “Coach Conn really thinks highly of me, and he really talked highly of me there. So, that was really good to hear.”

White has also been to games this season at Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn and Virginia Tech. Kentucky, North Carolina, Florida and Texas A&M are some schools he expects to check out moving forward.

His lengthy offer list features, among many others, schools like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.

“Everybody’s pretty even now,” he said of his recruitment. “I probably won’t have anything narrowed down until sometime next year.”

If the Tigers were to join his offer sheet in the future, White would be stoked.

“That would mean a lot,” he said. “I really admire Clemson. I always loved the way Clemson played and the environment that Clemson has. I always watched Clemson, the YouTube channel they have, the players’ vlog and stuff. I watched almost every season of that. Every day, I always watched that when I was in middle school and stuff like that. So if Clemson offered me, that would be crazy, like very exciting. And I’ve been through a lot in the recruiting (process) with Clemson. I’ve always loved Clemson.”

Texas A&M is well represented in the National Football League, with some of the most well-known and respected players and coaches descending from the ranks of the maroon and white throughout the years.

In week 8 of the NFL schedule, a number of former Texas A&M standouts once again stood out on the field, including stars

like defensive ends Myles Garrett and Von Miller, wide receivers Christian Kirk, Mike Evans and Josh Reynolds, defensive back Donovan Wilson, and more.

Take a look back at the best images from these Aggies on the NFL field in Week 8 of the pro football campaign.

Ex-NFL referee: Panthers WR DJ Moore should not have been penalized

For DJ Moore and the Panthers, we can file this one under “Things that could’ve been brought to the referees’ attention YESTERDAY!”

Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Moore celebrated the catch of a lifetime on Sunday, then got penalized for it. But should that flag have been thrown?

Initially, the “infraction” seemed plausible to many. Moore, understandably so, got a bit excited in the end zone following the miraculous score and removed his helmet before exiting the field of play. Unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yards, yada, yada, yada, right?

Well, uh, about that “field of play” part . . .

Former NFL referee of 21 seasons and current NBC Rules analyst Terry McAulay, per colleague Tony Dungy, said Moore shouldn’t have been called for the penalty—because he wasn’t even on the field!

As noted in the 2022 NFL Rulebook—specifically Section 3, Article 1 of the “Player Conduct” portion—a prohibited act that can lead to an unsportsmanlike penalty in this type of situation is defined as the following:

“Removal of his helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration, or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player.”

That white trimming Moore was in as he took off his helmet is not, in fact, the field of play nor is it the end zone. It’s the “border.”

Unfortunately for the Panthers, however, there’s nothing that can be done now.

After being moved back as a result of the call, kicker Eddy Piñeiro missed the ensuing 48-yard extra point—keeping the score knotted at 34 apiece and sending the game out of regulation. Piñeiro would then miss another potential game-winner, pushing a 32-yard field goal attempt wide left with just under six minutes remaining in overtime.

And the rest, thanks to Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo, is history.
