Special Teams Player of the Year – Cameron Dicker
One of the most under the radar positions in the game, having a consistent kicker is an asset that will win you a few close games throughout the season. That was the case with Cameron Dicker last season, as he kicked two game-winning field goals against Kansas and Kansas State. Overall, he went 56-57 on PATs and 14-18 on field goals.
While his field goal percentage was not the best last season at 77.8%, the kicks he missed were difficult. Missing a 49 yarder against Louisiana Tech and a 55 yarder against Kansas State, he only missed one kick inside of 40 yards. Going 14-15 inside of 40 yards, he was almost a sure-fire three points from that range.
As for 2020, he will continue to be the clutch kicker the Longhorns need in big-time games. The only area of improvement could be expanding his range, but once inside of 40 yards, he will more than likely make all of his kicks. Hitting multiple game-winning kicks as a freshman and sophomore, his junior season will provide more opportunities to play the hero role for Texas again.
