WATCH: Super Bowl Saturday? One teen’s petition gains traction in lead up to 49ers-Chiefs big game

A teenager wants to move the Super Bowl to Saturday, and thousands of people have signed a petition.

There is still more than a week to wait before the Chiefs and 49ers face off in Super Bowl LIV, but one teenager is using the time to take action for change.

No one enjoys getting up early the morning after the big game, but this year, the annual problem inspired 16-year-old Frankie Ruggerri to start a petition to have Super Bowl Sunday turned into Super Bowl Saturday.

As of mid-day Friday, the online petition had more than 35,600 signatures with the number increasing by the second.

Although there doesn’t seem to be any word from the NFL on the league actually making an adjustment based on the movement, the self-proclaimed Bills and Rams fan says that the life his petition has taken on is, “like if the Rams won the Super Bowl, pretty much.”

Frankie and his family told CNN that they do plan to watch San Francisco and Kansas City play on Feb. 2 despite the day of the week.
