2020 Season Early Awards Watchlist

It may be January, but it is never too early to begin talking about awards for the next season. Here is the early 2020 awards watchlist.

Newcomer of the Year – Bijan Robinson

The 13th highest rated recruit Texas has ever landed according to 247Sports, there is substantial hype about what Bijan Robinson will do during his time on the 40 acres. A five star running back with a .9926 rating, Robinson is the second-best running back in the 2020 class. Listed at 6 feet 200 pounds, his comparisons have been to New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Looking at his high school stats, the simplest way to put it is that they are nuts. In four seasons he had over 7,000 yards, averaging 13.4 yards per carry. Even crazier is the 103 rushing touchdowns he had, including 35 in his junior season and 38 his senior year. Also a threat to catch the ball, he had 314 receiving yards and three touchdowns his senior year.

Joining a busy running back room with Keaontay Ingram and Jordan Whittington, Robinson will have to fight for playing time early in the season. Once he does, he has the chance to be one of the best running backs in the Big 12. His strength, speed, and make you miss ability has Longhorn fans hyped about what Robinson can do for the offense.
