More TJ love & running back talk
Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott made an interesting comment at the recent combine that raised some eyebrow. He likes TJ Yeldon, a player that spent much of last season inactive, as a good No. 2 option to Devin Singletary. Beane interestingly repeated that on Thursday.
“We’re very confident in TJ,” Beane said. “He’s a three-down player. He’s smart, fit us well.”
But reading between the lines, it sounds as if the Bills are still in the market for more of a Frank Gore type of back, a bigger guy that complements the smaller, shifty Sngletary.
“He’s a guy that can play at any point, very good out of the passing game, probably more of a threat out of the backfield than Frank last year, we just thought that Frank brought up more of that downhill presence that Devin’s not and maybe that’s not TJ’s strength. But very confident that can come in,” Beane said.
The Bills should, and it sounds like they will, draft a Gore-like player at the upcoming rookie selection extravaganza.
