Wyatt Davis declares for 2021 NFL Draft

Ohio State All-American right guard Wyatt Davis has declared for the 2021 NFL Draft amid confusion surrounding the Big Ten football season.

It was bound to happen. The Ohio State football program has its first defection for the upcoming football season, whenever that will happen.

All-American performer Wyatt Davis has announced his declaration for the upcoming NFL draft through Yahoo Sports national writer Pete Thamel. It appears as though Davis had been holding out hope that a decision would be made regarding the fall football season to where he could still get another year in with his teammates at OSU.

“My family and I were waiting to hear any good news that there would be a possibility to play in the fall,” Davis told Thamel. “As the weeks went on, after the initial cancellation, the news didn’t seem in favor that we would have an opportunity to play for a national championship if there was a season. At this point, my family and I made the decision that it would be my best decision to take the next step.”

The news is a devastating one for Ohio State depending on what happens for the upcoming season. Davis is likely to be a first-round selection whether he plays another snap or not, but he was so solid at the right guard position that BTN named him to the All-Decade Team. Removing a player of his caliber isn’t easy to replace.

Now we wait to see if this is the first of several dominoes to fall. We’ve already heard that Shaun Wade would not play any so-called spring season, and others like fellow offensive linemen Thayer Munford and Josh Myers put off declaring for the draft for one more year. You have to wonder what will happen with guys sure to be talents at the next level.
