What we learned from Texas’ upset victory over Oklahoma State

While there are still problems, the win could rejuvenate some life into the program. Here are three things we learned from the upset victory.

Nobody had a better game in a Texas uniform than Joseph Ossai. His final stat line was jaw-dropping, once again proving the most important defensive player for the Longhorns.

  • 12 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks

His third and final sack was the most important, dropping Spencer Sanders to end the game in overtime. Ossai has been disrupting backfields all season and is finally getting numbers to back it up.

Six games into the season, Ossai has the third-most tackles and sacks in the Big 12. Everyone above him plays middle linebacker while Ossai has transitioned to the Jack and been designated to rush the passer.

While the league as a whole has had more defensive talent this season, Ossai showed how valuable he is to the Texas team in Saturday’s win. The junior has been a nightmare for offensive linemen week in and week out.
