What are the chances Ohio State shows a little rust on Saturday?

Ohio State could have a little rust playing American football Saturday, but that shouldn’t slow down one of the best teams in the country.

If the first few weeks of football, if both college and pro have shown us anything, it’s that predicting what will happen is going to be really difficult. Our latest projection here at Buckeyes Wire has an absolute blowout predicted, and it probably should be. Some rust could show, but how much is a question.

Without a regular offseason program and now a delay in the season, the reality is we just don’t know. I don’t expect a ton of rust, but would it surprise anyone if Justin Fields is a little off? Maybe, but realistically there is a small chance his timing could not be perfect in the first game or two as he hasn’t had his usual practice time with the receivers, which has had some turnover this year.

The offensive line might miss a few blocking adjustments, the corners could be a step slow in recognition, and the linebackers may have a slight hesitation hitting a gap. Of course, I say all of this not expecting the Buckeyes to really struggle, but knowing there could be a little rust might help any frustration that does occur.

Knock the rust off as they say. Either way, it’s going to be good to have Ohio State football back in the ‘Shoe this weekend.
