Welcome to Texas-OU, Michigan-Ohio State: A rooting guide

With the Big Ten season postponed who should Michigan and Ohio State fans root for? Well they could find themselves rooting for Texas-OU.

So why should Ohio State fans align with Oklahoma?

It should really come as no shock here, if Michigan fans were to align themselves with Texas then Ohio State would join the Sooners in this rivalry. Especially when you factor in that the Ohio State Buckeyes nation can’t stand Tom Herman. So really they are more like Sooner fans than they originally thought.

The hatred began after Herman tweeted out about being back home in Texas. That tweet has since been deleted.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 short years since I had to spend my March covered in snow. So thankful to be back home. #GodBlessTexas

Whether it was a joke or not, it didn’t sit well with the Buckeyes. Buckeyes Wire editor Phil Harrison weighed in on why Oklahoma

If there’s one team in the Big 12 Ohio State can get behind, it’s Oklahoma. There isn’t anyway, anyhow Buckeye fans are going to root for Tom Herman and Texas with all the rumors and speculation surrounding his role in being bitter towards Ohio State, so why not go to the rival for some well-timed tonic for the season?
If there’s one program that seems to parallel that of OSU, it’s Oklahoma. The Sooners and Buckeyes are in the team picture for one of the top programs of all time, and there’s not really any history of animosity between the two besides the blip on the radar with Baker Mayfield planting the OU flag at midfield during a loss in 2017. Even that has been somewhat redeemed with him leading the Cleveland Browns now.
Also, Oklahoma is led by a head coach that Buckeye fans don’t loathe. There’s no Nick Saban glaring and frowning on the sideline, no Dabo Swinney and his awe shucks, we’re better than your culture running around, and no SEC chest-thumping to get nauseated over. Fans could do a lot worse than pulling for OU this fall. Boomer Sooner!
