For the seventh time in nine years, Texas lost to Garry Patterson and TCU. A mix of timely penalties and the Longhorns’ offense struggling all-day caused the first loss of the season.
With the loss, Texas drops 13 spots in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. The Longhorns are now ranked No. 22, behind Texas A&M and SMU.
As for the rest of the Big 12, Oklahoma State jumps into the top 10 for the first time this season. Mike Gundy’s squad is the highest-ranked conference team. After defeating Oklahoma, Iowa State jumps into the poll at No. 24. The Sooners are now 1-2 this season, causing them to be unranked for the first time since 2016.
