Week 4 2023 Mountain West Football: Best Bets

Getting closer to conference play. We’re 25-12 on our bets for the season so far. Here’s what to look for in MW play this week.

Nevada @ Texas State (-17.5, O/U 59.5)

Alright, who is this Nevada team? They lose to FCS Idaho 33-6 and then almost beat Kansas at home. No matter, they head to Texas to face the Bobcats who are coming off a monster victory over Jackson State. Spread seems like a trap, but the Bobcats are perfectly capable of covering.

Pick: Texas State -17.5

James Madison @ Utah State (+5.5, O/U 52.5)

McCae Hillstead gets his first start under center for the Aggies. Unfortunately for the freshman, his first start comes against the defense of the James Madison Dukes. James Madison has relied on their defense to get out to a 3-0 start and it doesn’t look to be changing here. Take the under as offense won’t be a story in this game.

Pick: Under

UNLV @ UTEP (+2.5, O/U 50.5)

UNLV is definitely the surprise team of the year in the MW so far. They took Vanderbilt down to the wire and came back after giving up a big lead. Barry Odom is going to have the Rebels ready in El Paso. Take the Rebels to cover. And if you’re feeling spicy, take the over as well.

Pick: UNLV -2.5

KENT State @ Fresno State (-27.5, O/U 48.5)

Kent State doesn’t really have an offense anymore. Fresno State couldn’t convert 8 turnovers into many points last week. Expect more of the same this week. The under is in play once again. And if it hits, one has to question the Bulldogs offense.

Pick: Under

New Mexico State @ Hawai’i (-3, O/U 57.5)

The Hawai’i test is back. And it’s truly a sickos matchup. This is a matchup where we can really see who the Rainbow Warriors are. The Aggies were a bowl team last season, but have struggled out of the gate. Hawai’i has put up some strong performances against P5 schools so far. Expect more of that Hawai’i squad in this game.

Pick: Hawai’i -3
