No. 10 – Texas Tech Red Raiders
Season one under Matt Wells did not go so well and season two should be a lot more of the same. Getting some of the bottom tier level teams at home will help, but traveling to teams like Iowa State, Kansas, State, and Oklahoma State will hurt the Red Raiders. Another poor season is in store for Texas Tech.
No. 9 – Kansas Jayhawks
The Jayhawks are also in year two of new head coaches with Les Miles. Getting three wins in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2013/2014, the future is bright for Kansas. However, they still have ways to go. It will be another rebuilding year in Lawrence, hoping to get four or five total wins this season.
No. 8 – West Virginia Mountaineers
Finishing 5-7 last season, West Virginia was always going to be a rebuilding project under Neal Brown. For the second year in a row, the Mountaineers will be facing 11 Power 5 opponents, playing Florida State and Maryland in their non-conference schedule. Add in the worst offense in the Big 12 last season, if West Virginia wants to improve in 2020 at all, quarterback Austin Kendall must improve.
