WATCH: Texas WR Casey Cain hauls in one-handed grab during spring practice

Cain seems to be a bright spot of Texas’ spring practices thus far.

According to reports from Inside Texas and Horns247, redshirt freshman wide receiver Casey Cain has made several plays throughout spring practices up to this point.

It’s surely a welcoming surprise, as head coach Steve Sarkisian recently noted that the Longhorns lack depth at the position. Xavier Worthy and Jordan Whittington are locks to start when healthy, and Isaiah Neyor and Marcus Washington are solid threats on the outside.

Aside from that, someone needs to step up. Troy Omeire will miss this spring as he continues to recover from knee surgery, and 2022 signee Brenen Thompson won’t arrive on campus until the fall. This allows Cain to step up and prove his worth.

On Sunday, Texas released a highlight video from Saturday’s practice where Cain hauled in a spectacular one-handed grab from quarterback Quinn Ewers.

There was also another video circulating on social media where Cain got open in the middle of the field for a deep reception from quarterback Hudson Card.

Cain seems to have great size and a fantastic catch radius. If he continues to consistently make plays, he’ll work his way up the depth chart and receive significant playing time moving forward.
