WATCH: Texas releases highlight video that includes the SEC logo

Whether it was foreshadowing or just a tease, the Texas hype video had a very interesting ending

It feels like ages ago that we learned there had been secretive meetings in regards to both Texas and Oklahoma making the move from the Big 12 to the SEC.

While we know it will happen eventually, it is unclear as to when the move will actually happen. There are factors preventing the move from happening immediately, as both the schools are adhering to the Big 12 conference’s television rights agreement, which expires in July 2025.

However, Texas’ social media department posted a very interesting hype video of former great and current Longhorn athletes, but it was the ending that caught most people’s attention. The two minute long video concludes with the SEC logo, the school’s future conference.

Texas and Oklahoma will have to fork over $80 million worth of exit fees to the Big 12. The reason for the fee having to be paid even after the agreement ends in 2025 can be attributed to the fact that the two programs agreed to a “99-year” granting of their media rights to the Big 12 conference which began on July 1, 2012.

Even with all the unknowns of when the move will happen, Texas and Oklahoma fans alike seem to be antsy for the move and are already comparing recruiting classes in football, victories in baseball, and how the teams matchup in basketball.

Fans will only continue to be antsy after that highlight video.
