WATCH: Texas is featured in a college football hype video

This season could play a significant role in Steve Sarkisian’s success at Texas.

It’s game week in Austin, Texas. The Longhorns begin their highly anticipated second season of the Steve Sarkisian era Saturday against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

Week zero kicked off the college football season last week, but the realization of football is finally setting in for Texas this week. Undoubtedly college football fans across the country are eager for the first full slate of games.

A number of stories headline what should be a memorable season. Oklahoma, Oregon, LSU and Florida each break in new head coaches this year. Other big time programs like Clemson look to recapture prior success.

As far as championship contenders go, the three most likely options are Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia. Georgia outlasted Alabama for the title last season, while Alabama defeated Ohio State a year earlier.

Texas enters what could be a make-or-break season for Steve Sarkisian. The Texas head coach has plenty of years left on his contract, but this year could play a significant role in how his tenure unfolds.

With much to prove, Texas will aim to live up to expectations this season.
