WATCH: Ohio State captain Jonathon Cooper with passionate speech to team

Fifth-year senior and captain Jonathon Cooper gives an impassioned speech to Ohio State football teammates during times of uncertainty.

It sounds like a broken record, but it’s true. These are extraordinary times, some that’ll likely be prominent sections in history textbooks in the not-too-distant future. There’s a lot of sacrifices when it comes to playing big-time college football, but even more so when you are trying to get a season off the ground in the midst of a global pandemic.

That’s exactly what the Ohio State football players are dealing with this fall. Will there or won’t there be a season after so much hard work has been put in? And what about those that came back for an extra year that are now waiting to see if that was done in vain?

Jonathon Cooper is one of those athletes. He suffered injuries last season and made a choice to redshirt and gain an extra year to play the game he loves, with the brothers he loves. He was again rewarded by being named one of seven captains for 2020, and he had a little something to say just prior to the last workout before fall camp started last Friday.

Ohio State football shared his passionate speech about sacrifice and doing the right thing in this pandemic to put the team — and frankly — society to where there can indeed be football this year.

Now all that’s left to do is determine if we’ll have a season at Ohio State this fall to make it all worth it. We’re all staying tuned on that one, hoping for the best, but understanding the times that we live in.
