WATCH: Jameis Winston: ‘Kudos to me’ for being replaced by Tom Brady

It rarely feels good to be demoted at your job, but Jameis Winston — who was Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback for five seasons — is looking at the bright side: at least he’s being replaced by one of the greatest QBs ever to play the game.

It rarely feels good to be demoted at your job, but Jameis Winston — who was Tampa Bay’s starting quarterback for five seasons — is looking at the bright side: at least he’s being replaced by one of the greatest QBs ever to play the game.

“One thing about Tom Brady is it’s understood that he is the GOAT,” Winston said on FOX News on Wednesday while promoting a toll-free coronavirus hotline. “For you to get replaced by Tom Brady in a city that you love so much, I guess that’s kudos to me.”

Winston threw for 33 touchdowns in 2019, sitting only behind Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson for the league lead, but those 33 touchdowns also came with 30 interceptions.

Winston told FOX News he understands that it’s all a business and that he’s excited for wherever he goes next.

Brady takes the reins in Tampa Bay after 20 seasons and six Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots, agreeing on a two-year deal with the Bucs on March 18.
