Tua Tagovailoa was a leader, a fan-favorite and a household name across the country while being the star quarterback at Alabama. Now, after being the No. 5 overall selection in the 2020 NFL draft, he must start over with the Miami Dolphins.
Being a highly-praised rookie can put young players in a difficult spot. They feel the need to perform on the field in order to live up to the excitement that has been generated from the time they’ve been drafted to when it’s time to put on the pads. They are also required to build strong, trusting relationships with his new teammates.
Plenty of news regarding Tagovailoa’s health have been released, including a video of the 2018 Heisman finalist running during training camp without any limitations. However, not too much has been said about how he’s been interacting with his new teammates.
Well, today running back Jordan Howard, who is also new to the franchise after being acquired by Miami in this offseason, spoke on Tagovailoa during his virtual press conference.
“Just a chill guy, I guess being from Hawaii, he just hangs loose,” says Howard. “He’s definitely- people are going to gravitate toward him like Fitz. He’s just- he’s hungry.”
There’s no sign as to when fans can expect to see Tagovailoa in action. It will be his first time in a live game since fracturing his hip against Mississippi State in November of 2019.
