WATCH: Chase Young wants you to know who Washington QB Taylor Heinicke is

Former Ohio State and current Washington DE Chase Young found his way into a celebratory pile to give recognition to Taylor Heinicke.

Ohio State fans know it, but the rest of the NFL is finding it out as well. No, not that Washington defensive end Chase Young is one whale of a player (that’s known), but the energy and leadership he brings to a football team.

We saw it on display again on Saturday night in an NFL wild-card playoff game between the Washington Football Team and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you’ve followed Washington’s plight, you know that starting quarterback Alex Smith is out with a calf injury. And … since former OSU QB Dwayne Haskins is no longer with the team, that left starting an NFL playoff game up to journeyman Taylor Heinicke.

As fate would have it, Heinicke is having himself a pretty good game all things considered. So much so, that Young apparently wanted everyone to know his name. After Heinicke scrambled on a third and five play to not only gain the first down, but dive into the end zone for a touchdown, his offense rallied around him for a celebration.

Here’s the play, and yeah, it’s quite the athletic move.

But wait. It wasn’t just the Washington offense that congratulated the quarterback on the fantastic play. Somehow, Young found his way down to the end zone where Heinicke scored and wanted America to make that last name a household one.

Watch, as Young celebrates by putting his hand around the upstart quarterback and points to the last name on Heinicke’s jersey to make sure everyone knows to take notice.

Here is a better roll of it in slow motion.

If you know anything about Chase Young, then this doesn’t surprise you at all. He is not only a great player but an even better human being. He also brings a ton of energy to whatever group of players that surround him.
