2005 Texas Longhorns (Number 6)
The top Longhorns team on the list comes in at number six. What a memorable run this team had on their way to taking down the vaunted Southern California Trojans in the 2005 BCS Championship at the Rose Bowl. The Longhorns went undefeated during the season and earned a spot in the Big 12 National Championship game where they spanked Colorado 70-3.
This is remembered as one of the best games in college football history. The final run by Vince Young to take the lead with just 19 seconds left in the game is one of legend. ESPN called it the fifth best play in college football history. Young would be drafted third overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. Young took home the Maxwell Award, Manning Award and the Davey O’Brien Award.
That season was the first undefeated for the Longhorns since 1969.
