The 1968 Texas Longhorns football team comes in at number 116. The Longhorns finished that year under legendary coach Darrell K. Royal with a 9-1-1 record. That season the Longhorns beat Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout 26-20. They would finish the season in the Cotton Bowl, beating number eight ranked Tennessee Volunteers 36-13 in front of 72,000 fans. In 1968 back Chris Gilbert was a Consensus All-American.
