Urban Meyer, FOX College Football crew discuss whether Ohio State’s resume and lack of games should get them into the College Football Playoff

Ohio State will have played just 6 games when Playoff selections are made. Should OSU be considered? Urban Meyer and the FOX crew discuss.

It seems to be the topic above all other topics in college football. Should Ohio State be one of the four teams invited to the College Football Playoff fun in 2020?

Most would agree the eye-test (shudder) says the Buckeyes are one of the four best teams, but the résumé shows five games, and only one against a ranked team, a win over a top-10 Indiana squad.

Other teams in other conferences have played many more, sometimes as many as 11. Of course, Ohio State still has the Big Ten Championship game to play against Northwestern this weekend (we hope), and that will give it another data point and a win over a ranked team. But that’s a 6-0 record held up against an 11-1 Texas A&M, or a potential two-loss conference champion elsewhere that has had to go through the fire many more times.

The FOX College Football crew discussed that very topic over the weekend and it’s pretty good stuff.

“Everybody had their opinion,” OSU head coach Ryan Day said on another segment with FOX, but we believe some opinions count more than others.

We value what the guys on the Big Noon Kickoff set believe and say, so we’re bringing it to you. Long story short, they all pretty much disagree with head coach Dabo Swinny who was very critical of the number of games Ohio State has — and will play — come selection Sunday.

As a reminder, it’s all for naught if Ohio State can’t get over the one remaining hurdle of beating Northwestern Saturday in the Big Ten Championship game. You can catch that game at noon on FOX.
