University of Alabama athletic teams record impressive APR scores

All 21 University of Alabama athletics teams scored above the national cutoff standard in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR.) 

The University of Alabama has once again placed at the top, this time in the classroom. In addition to excelling on the fields and courts, the Crimson Time athletic teams have also been excelling in the classroom. All 21 University of Alabama athletics teams scored above the national cutoff standard in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR), 5 of which were in the top 10 percentile.

The APR is not a measure of the academic credentials of a school, but it’s really a way to show how schools are managing the academic progress and success of its athletes.

The figures and data released were from a 4 year period from the 2015/2016 season through the 2019/2019 season.

5 Alabama teams (football, basketball, gymnastics, women’s golf and volleyball) earned recognition from the NCAA for their APR scored that were in the top ten percentile nationally.

Alabama football posted a program record of 990, which is not only better than the national average for FBS teams by 22 points, but it also ranks second in the Southeastern Conference, behind Ole Miss who scored a 997.

Alabama men’s basketball also posted a 990 APR, which is 24 points higher than the national average.

Baseball posted an APR of 998, which is 11 points above the national average.

Women’s golf, gymnastics and volleyball all posted a perfect 1,000.

Women’s rowing and soccer both posted a 998.

Women’s softball posted a 997.

Women’s swimming and diving posted a 994, and the Men’s swimming and diving posted a 993.

Women’s tennis posted a 992.

Baseball and Women’s track and field both posted a 988, Men’s golf posted a 984, and Women’s cross country posted a 985.

Overall, 13 Alabama teams posted scores above the national average.
