When examining Texas A&M’s roster, two players who dealt with recent blows to their collegiate careers are back to prove their star power on the field, as redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman has reconnected with sophomore tight end Donovan Green this fall ahead of the 2024 season.
As two of the last remaining players from the historic 2022 recruiting class, Weigman developed a special connection with Green during their first season with the program, but after both suffered season-ending injuries, including Green’s brutal ACL tear just weeks before the 2023 campaign, the road to redemption is painted Maroon & White.
So far, both players have steadily progressed during fall practice this month, as Weigman’s elite accuracy and touch remain intact, while his throwing velocity has enhanced. Coming off the bench to start the season seems more plausible for Green, but his performance this fall has shown a player ready to re-take the field after adding healthy mass this offseason.
With high expectations attached to both players, Weigman and Green were recently named to the Comeback Player of the Year preseason watchlist.
