Among all of the players on the Kentucky roster this season, Tyrese Maxey was the highest-rated recruit. The 6-foot-3 guard was considered a Top-10 prospect coming out of high school.

He was a McDonald’s All-American and participated in the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoops Summit. He led Team USA with 3.5 steals per 36 minutes in the U18 Americas Championship tournament back in 2018. On the AAU circuit, he won Defensive Player of the Year while also putting up 21.9 points per game.

Maxey plays a bit bigger than his size thanks to his 6-foot-6 wingspan and is a strong option on the ball. When finishing opportunities as the ballhandler in a pick-and-roll offense, he averaged 0.93 points per possession. That ranked in the 86th percentile among all NCAA players, via Synergy Sports.

He finished the season averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. His draft stock has remained consistently in the lottery and as the best among anyone on the Wildcats. Maxey currently projects as one of the first ten players to be selected in the 2020 NBA Draft.
