Titans place Sam Ficken on IR among handful of moves

The Titans are having issues at kicker before the season even begins.

The Tennessee Titans’ problems at kicker are starting before the regular season even begins, as the team announced it placed starting kicker Sam Ficken on Injured Reserve ahead of Week 1.

Ficken came down with a groin injury late in the week, which put his status for Week 1 up in the air. Now, he’ll miss at least the first three games of the 2021 campaign.

Taking Ficken’s spot on the roster is fellow kicker Michael Badgley, who was signed to the practice squad on Friday.

Badgley spent the last three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and made 80 percent of his field goal attempts in that span. However, he struggled in 2020, making just 72.7 percent of his kicks.

In addition to promoting Badgley, the Titans signed veteran kicker Randy Bullock to the practice squad. Bullock made 80.8 percent of his attempts in 12 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020.

Among other moves: the Titans will elevate tight end MyCole Pruitt and safety Bradley McDougald from the practice squad for Week 1. Tight end Tommy Hudson has also been ruled out for Sunday.
