Sam Ehlinger has been the biggest fan favorite since Colt McCoy graduated in 2009. Even once he leaves Austin, Ehlinger will be adored by many. Even though will also go down with a couple of records at Texas, it is time for the program to move onto the next chapter.

Friday’s game against Iowa State was not the type of performance you would expect from a three-year starter on senior day. Constant overthrows, taking bad sacks, and lack of situational awareness all killed the Longhorns towards the of the game. It has been a frustrating season for Ehlinger since the TCU loss.

Even over the past two seasons, the progression into a top quarterback in the country has not been there. Ehlinger is more than likely going to be Texas’ first QB drafted since McCoy. He needs to take advantage before his stock can get any lower.
