Three Ohio State football players make AP’s Preseason All-American Team

Justin Fields, Wyatt Davis, and Shaun Wade were all named to the Preseason Associated Press All-American Teams Tuesday.

Even though it’s highly unlikely we’ll see the Big Ten reverse its decision and play football this fall, it didn’t stop the Associated Press from including Ohio State at No. 2 in its Preseason Top 25. It also didn’t stop the AP from naming a few Buckeyes on its Preseason All-American Team. In fact, there’s a trio of OSU players included, and it falls in line with who many other published lists have named at the top.

That trio is quarterback Justin Fields, right guard Wyatt Davis, and cornerback Shaun Wade — the same three players also expected to be first-round draft picks by many draft gurus. Fields landed on the second team behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, while Davis and Wade both made the First Team.

Fields,  would have been looking to build on his fantastic first year under center at Ohio State. He is the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year and a 2019 Heisman Finalist that was looking to add to those accolades in his second year in the program.

Wade was also looking forward to separating himself by coming back for one more season. He was the slot DB last season but was supposed to be the clear No. 1 corner on this year’s team, further showcasing his skills after both Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette were lost to the NFL draft.

Davis shunned the opportunity to go to the NFL as well. Despite still putting his career together, the starting right guard was already named to BTN’s All-Decade team and could be a potential All-Pro at the next level.

Sadly, we won’t see these three suit up in the fall, but hopefully, we’ll still get some semblance to the season in the spring.

The wait continues …
