After breaking the 40-yard dash record at the 2024 NFL Combine on Saturday, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy is starting to sneak into the first round of NFL mock drafts.
Our colleagues over at College Sports Wire released their post-combine NFL mock draft on Monday and three Longhorns appeared in the first round.
Texas’ highest rated draft prospect this year is defensive tackle Byron Murphy. He solidified his first-round status with an impressive showing at the combine.
Murphy landed at No. 23 overall to the Houston Texans in College Sports Wire’s mock draft. Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was projected to the Buffalo Bills with the No. 28 overall pick shortly after.
Prior to the combine, Worthy was slated in the second round of nearly every NFL mock draft. Now, he’s creeping into the later half of the first round after showcasing his strengths at the combine. College Sports Wire mocks Worthy to the Kansas City Chiefs with the final pick of the first round.
There are major question marks when it comes to hands and play strength, but you can’t question Worthy’s after-catch upside and explosive speed.
If Worthy excels in positional drills at Texas’ Pro Day on March 20, he could solidify himself as a first-round pick.
