The Longhorns should be well-represented throughout the 2023 NFL draft.
It’s a significant jump compared to the 2022 NFL draft, where Texas did not have a single player selected throughout the three-day event. Not putting enough players in the NFL is a recruiting tactic currently being used against Texas by opposing teams.
However, that will change soon.
Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian has taken over and completely revamped the roster and the culture within the program. The recent lack of NFL draft prospects and mass exodus of players from the 2019 recruiting class were from the previous regime of Tom Herman.
Looking ahead to next year, Texas has three prospects who could potentially be selected within the first two days of the NFL draft. PFF recently released their rankings of the top draft prospects to watch ahead of the 2022 season, and two Longhorns were featured on offense, while one made the list on the defensive side.
