Those who can handle it will be rewarded with one of the best boxing films in history. The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki is a Finnish film that somehow managed to exploit some of the antics surrounding a fight—promoters be thy name—while depicting a love story and a man’s hesitance and self-doubt…all while really making the film’s main linear point the weigh-in. The black and white style makes it feel like a classic, and the performances that director Juho Kuosmanen got out the actors make the neck strains completely worth it.
