Meg Smaker (pictured left) created one of the most impactful boxing films in any era, when she introduced the fight world to the overlooked struggles for Cuban women who want to box. Smaker, a fighter herself, found out firsthand that, although Cuba produces more Olympic gold medal-winning boxers than any country, women competing is not allowed. The documentary short that came out of her exploration is a 15 minute journey many would think was scripted out of Hollywood—an unbelievable tale of struggle and inspiration that follows Namibia, a Cuban fighter who risks everything to compete in the Olympics.
