Steve Sarkisian has found his next wide receiver coach. Texas is set to hire Chris Jackson from the Jacksonville Jaguars to fill out its coaching staff.
Jackson replaces Brennan Marion, who left to take the offensive coordinator job at UNLV earlier this offseason.
In his one season with the Jaguars, Jackson’s wide receiver group took a massive step forward. Christian Kirk and Zay Jones served as a solid duo, helping Jacksonville reach the divisional round of the playoffs. He previously spent time as an assistant for the Chicago Bears from 2019-2021.
Jackson played his college ball at Washington State before embarking on a long professional career in the NFL and Arena Football League.
Jackson inherits a Texas wide receiver room with extremely high upside. Xavier Worthy leads the pack with an exciting mix of returners and newcomers.
Recruiting is an area where Jackson is a bit of a question mark, with this being his first role at the college level. The first task for Jackson as a recruiter is landing 2024 five-star wideout Micah Hudson.
#Jaguars WR Coach Chris Jackson has informed Doug Pederson's staff he is taking the same position at @TexasFootball, per multiple sources #Jaguars WRs caught 238 passes for 2,677 yards and 19 TDs in his lone season in 2022, including Christian Kirk & Zay Jones' historic seasons
