Defense
Kitan Crawford – No. 19
The top-rated corner in Texas’ 2020 class, Kitan Crawford is another blue-chip defensive back on Texas’ roster. Listed at 5-11, Crawford could be a future candidate to play nickelback for Chris Ash. A top 10 high school safety, Crawford will continue to build depth to the Longhorns’ secondary.
Jahdae Barron – No. 30
Another cornerback, Jahdae Barron stayed in his hometown of Austin to play college football. Barron is known for having decent speed while also having good ball skills. Another candidate for a nickelback slot, the four-star prospect is listed at 5-11.
Prince Dorbah – No. 32
Prince Dorbah was a top 10 outside linebacker coming out of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas. The four-star prospect is currently dealing with a knee injury that will require surgery. Dorbah was primarily a pass rusher in high school and could become a Joseph Ossai replacement when he leaves for the NFL.
Jaylan Ford – No. 41
Jaylan Ford was Texas’ lowest-rated prospect in the 2020 class but still shows a ton of upside. Coming out of Frisco Lone Star High School, Ford was the District 5-5A-I defensive MVP as a junior. As a linebacker, he recorded 142 tackles, 11 which for a loss. Not the most recruited player, Texas has a hidden gem at their feed with Ford.
Jaden Hullaby – No. 55
Jaden Hullaby was primarily a running back at Mansfield Timberview. However, Tom Herman and Stran Drayton have recruited him to play linebacker for the Longhorns. His 6-2 and 205 pounds frame with decent speed will make for a high flying linebacker for coach Coleman Hutzler.
Alfred Collins – No. 95
The prized defensive recruit in the Longhorns’ 2020 class, Alfred Collins was ranked a five-star prospect by 247Sports. The defensive end picked Texas over Alabama and Oklahoma, a huge in-state recruiting win for Tom Herman. Texas’ pass rush was below average last season and needs immediate help. Collins will be a great addition to the opposite side of Joseph Ossai.
