How former Wisconsin LB Maema Njongmeta performed at the 2024 NFL combine

Wisconsin linebacker Maema Njongmeta went through his NFL combine measurements and position drills Thursday night.

The former Badger is looking to rise on draft boards and find an NFL home after initially being projected to go undrafted.

He worked out with an impressive linebacker group led by Alabama’s Dallas Turner, Clemson’s Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Alabama’s Chris Braswell, Texas A&M’s Edgerrin Cooper and Michigan’s Junior Colson.

The former Badger will now prepare for Wisconsin’s pro day later this month as he hopes to enter the radar of NFL teams looking for depth at inside linebacker.

Jamaal Williams, Foster Moreau among many Saints changing jersey numbers

Jamaal Williams and Foster Moreau are among many New Orleans Saints changing jersey numbers in the wake of last week’s roster cuts:

A small crowd of New Orleans Saints players are changing jersey numbers in the wake of roster cuts last week, which freed up a lot of coveted numbers — and some big names like running back Jamaal Williams and tight end Foster Moreau are among those making moves. So is rookie quarterback Jake Haener.

Here are all nine players who have switched numbers before the regular season kicks off:

New Orleans Saints 90-man roster for training camp, listed by jersey number

We’re breaking down the New Orleans Saints’ 90-man roster for training camp by jersey number. The first practice open to fans is Friday, so keep this list handy:

New Orleans Saints fans will get their first look at the 2023 squad in the upcoming open practice on Friday, July 28, so it’s a good time to brush up on the roster and get familiar with the many new faces crowding the depth chart.

Remember that jersey numbers change often this time of the year, and some players haven’t been on the team long enough to even have their photo taken in a Saints uniform. For now, here are the numbers assigned to every player on the 90-man roster for training camp:

Who was the best Saints player to wear No. 43 for New Orleans?

Darren Sproles had one historic year, but Marcus Williams had durability. Who was the better Saints player to wear No. 43 for New Orleans? Our staff writers made their picks:

This was a fun debate: who wore No. 43 better for the New Orleans Saints out of running back Darren Sproles and free safety Marcus Williams? Both standouts left their mark on Saints history, and they each have a strong case to be called the best to ever wear their shared jersey number.

Our staff writers made their picks, but you can share yours in the poll below:

73 days until Saints season opener: Every player to wear No. 73 for New Orleans

73 days until Saints season opener: Every player to wear No. 73 for New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints will kick off their 2023 regular season against the Tennessee Titans at home in the Caesars Superdome on Sept. 10, which is now 73 days away. We’ll be counting down the days until kickoff by looking back on every Saints player who wore the corresponding jersey number.

In other words, it’s Jahri Evans Day. The six-time Pro Bowl right guard earned a spot on the Hall of Fame’s All-2010s Team as well as four spots on the All-Pro first team, and it’s led to some strong arguments in his favor now that he’s eligible for Hall of Fame induction. He’s by far the biggest name to ever wear No. 73 for the Saints, but here’s the full list from Pro Football Reference:

74 days until Saints season opener: Every player to wear No. 74 for New Orleans

Former Saints defensive lineman Derland Moore (1973-1985) wore No. 74 well for a long time as one of the team’s first star players in their early days, and in the modern era it was prominently used by offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod (2007-2012, 2018). It currently belongs to James Hurst (with the team since 2020), a versatile starter at both tackle and guard. Here’s the full list from Pro Football Reference:

Who stands out in No. 75? Defensive end Bruce Clark (1982-1988) was a key player for the Saints in his day, having won a Pro Bowl nod in 1984. Lately it’s been used by left guard Andrus Peat (2014-2023) who has been selected for three Pro Bowls as an alternate. Peat’s own position coach Doug Marrone wore No. 75 in his single game appearance for the Saints back in 1989. Here’s the full list from Pro Football Reference:

Some of the biggest names to have worn No. 76 for the Saints include center Jonathan Goodwin (2006-2010) and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (2012-2015), though more-seasoned fans may recall defensive tackle Dave Rowe (1967-1970) and offensive tackle Don Morrison (1971-1977) from the franchise’s early days. Foster Moreau has chosen his New Orleans Saints jersey number

Foster Moreau has chosen his Saints jersey number — going with the same number he wore at Jesuit High School in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood:

This is cool: New Orleans Saints tight end Foster Moreau has chosen his new jersey number after signing with his hometown team, and it’s the same designation he used at Jesuit High School in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood: No. 82.

It’s a number that only recently became available after Adam Trautman requested a trade that sent him to the Denver Broncos during the 2023 NFL draft. Moreau’s new number is listed on the team’s official website roster, though it’s subject to change as other numbers open up later this summer during roster cuts.

Moreau had previously used No. 87 in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders after wearing Nos. 84 and 18 in college for the LSU Tigers, so this is a meaningful move for him. He’s getting a new start with a new team and a new lease on life after receiving a diagnosis for Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March, only to respond well enough to treatment that he’s expected to get on the field when the Saints gather for organized team activities later this month.

It makes sense for Foster to go with a new jersey number than what he’s previously used in the NFL. That it’s the same number he wore in high school at John Ryan Stadium just ten minutes away from the Caesars Superdome might make it a little more special.

Alontae Taylor among New Orleans Saints players wearing new jersey numbers

Alontae Taylor is among many New Orleans Saints players wearing new jersey numbers. Here’s what you need to know about the veterans and rookie free agents making moves:

The New Orleans Saints updated their official website’s roster after the 2023 NFL draft to reflect a series of jersey number changes among players on their team, both veterans returning from last year’s squad and the undrafted rookies who are hoping to stick around. We’ve already broken down the jersey numbers for the Saints’ 2023 draft picks, but there are other changes worth noting.

But more changes are on the way. For one thing, fifth-round safety Jordan Howden is listed in the same number as backup running back Eno Benjamin (No. 31). Once the Saints process roster cuts later this summer, other numbers will open up and some guys will make last-minute changes. So maybe hold off on ordering a jersey.

One of the most notable changes is for second-year cornerback Alontae Taylor. He started his Saints career wearing No. 27, but he’s now listed in No. 1, which his former teammate at Tennessee Marquez Callaway wore with the Saints last season. That’s a bold choice for a young player aiming for a starting job.

Another new addition, wide receiver Bryan Edwards, is going with No. 11 after previously using No. 89 (which was already claimed by his Saints teammate Rashid Shaheed). And we already know that backup safety Ugo Amadi, signed in March, has laid claim to the coveted No. 0 zero (for now). Here’s a quick look at the new numbers on the team:
