Bijan Robinson is rated as one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. Many experts have the former Longhorn as one of their top 10 overall prospects.
Unfortunately for Robinson, the running back position has lost a bit of value over the years. It is a rare occurrence to see teams use a high draft pick on a running back in todays NFL.
Robinson may just be good enough to break that trend with running backs shuffling around all over the league this week in free agency. Bleacher Report believes Robinson’s draft stock is rising as the Bills and several other teams are still in need of a starting ball carrier.
The good news for the Texas product is that a new team, the Los Angeles Chargers, might be looking for a lead back.
At the beginning of free agency, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler asked for a trade, and the team permitted him to seek one. While nothing further has happened, Ekeler’s departure would leave the offense with a significant hole. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the running back-needy Bills haven’t signed a rusher in free agency, which should comfortably place the Longhorn as a rare first-round back.
