Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger continues to add to his list of preseason honors.
For the second-straight year, Ehlinger has been named to the Manning Award watch list. This prestigious honor is sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and is gifted to the nation’s top collegiate quarterback.
Ehlinger has started all 27 games for the Longhorns since the start of the 2018 season. During that span, he leads all active FBS quarterbacks in completions (571), attempts (879), passing yards (6,955), total offense (8,100) and total touchdowns (80).
He has continued to progress as a player each season that passes, putting him in a great position to take home one of the most unique individual awards that a quarterback can win. As a junior in 2019, Ehlinger accounted for the second-most yards of total offense in school history with 4,326 yards.
He’s already statistically cemented his name in Texas football history as one of the most productive signal callers alongside Colt McCoy and Vince Young.
On top of being recognized for the Manning Award, Ehlinger was also named to the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Wuerffel Trophy watch lists. He’s a Preseason All-Big 12 selection and a first-team All-Big 12 Preseason selection by Phil Steele.
Although the college football season is currently sitting in a puddle of uncertainty, the hype surrounding Ehlinger’s senior season continues to grow.
