Texas now targeting top-rated tight end in 2021 recruiting class

Texas recently sent an offer to the No. 1 rated recruit in the state of Iowa, four-star tight end Thomas Fidone.

Texas recently sent an offer to four-star tight end Thomas Fidone out of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Fidone has an impressive frame at 6-5, 225-pounds and is expected to participate in the Adidas All-American bowl on January 9, 2021. According to 247Sports recruiting analyst Allen Trieu, his pro comparison is Zach Ertz.

The Longhorns will have some tough competition to land Fidone, as he’s been offered by LSU, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia and many others.

Texas desperately needs talent at the tight end position, Fidone is unanimously rated the No. 1 player in Iowa from the 2021 recruiting class. While he’s had the most interaction with Nebraska and Iowa thus far, rumors hint that he’s holding out on making a decision until he can take more visits.

Tom Herman and Co. must quickly find a way to land on Fidone’s radar.
