There’s a crucial Big 12 matchup taking place in Austin on Nov. 7.
Texas will host West Virginia where the road team has been victorious since 2016. Each team has an overall 4-2 record this year and have dropped two games to conference opponents.
Texas has a very realistic path to the Big 12 Championship game if they can handle their own business, but West Virginia, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Iowa State are in the mix as well.
If the Longhorns can defeat the Mountaineers, the toughest opponents left on the schedule are Iowa State and Kansas State. Can Tom Herman’s squad find some sort of consistency with winning three consecutive games?
It’s unclear how Texas will take the field against West Virginia after a thrilling defeat over No. 6 Oklahoma State in Stillwater last week. Throughout Herman’s tenure in Austin, he’s 3-2 in games after beating a ranked team.
On top of that, Herman is 10-7 when playing an unranked opponent while Texas is an AP Top 25 team and the Longhorns are currently sitting at No. 22.
Tensions are understandably high for this matchup. Let’s take a look at the social media buzz prior to kickoff.
