Texas Longhorns vs West Virginia: A look at the series history

Saturday is the 10th meeting between the Texas Longhorns and West Virginia Mountaineers. We take a journey through time as we remember.

The Texas Longhorns victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys is now 48 hours old. As Bill Belichick might say “we’re on to West Virginia.”

It might be cliché or viewed as “coach speak”, but Texas has to take this season one game at a time. You can never get too high off the wins or too low off the losses. The focus has to be all about beating the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday.

Last season the Longhorns were able to travel Morgantown and leave with a victory. This time around the two meet in Austin. Following this matchup there is only one more game at DKR in 2020. In true Texas football fashion that game will be under Friday Night Lights. Just hope they remember what coach Eric Taylor said. “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”

As far as Saturday is concerned, this will be the 10th time the two schools will meet on the football field. The first came all the way back in 1956 and they wouldn’t play again until the Mountaineers joined the Big 12 Conference in 2012.

Let’s take a journey down memory lane for a look at the all-time series. West Virginia leads the series 5-4.
